Thanks to our friends...

...Friends of the Oak Grove Public Library that is...

Our Friends have donated many things to us throughout the few years we have been open. Most recently they have purchased us a tackboard (bulletin board) for our entrance area, bookmark display cases, and a markerboard for our juvenile room.

We are very thankful to our Friends!

Of magazine orders...

It's time to order (add and drop) magazines here at Oak Grove.

We are adding the following:
  1. Popular Mechanics
  2. Southern Sporting Journal
  3. Scooby-Doo (children's room)
  4. Familyfun Magazine
  5. Wildbird
  6. Mad Kids (children's room)
  7. This Old House
  8. Travel Smart
We have yet to completely decide on our dropped magazines.

This is on a yearly basis, so if you find out that we have dropped one that you like, please let us know and we may be able to pick it up next year.

Children's librarian introduction

I started my adult adventure as a teacher. I grew up always saying I wanted to be a teacher and everyone always told me I’d be a great teacher. Then, I became one. That first year was the hardest year of my life. I grew up a lot and became the kind of teacher I never wanted to be. Stressed. Overworked. Lacking confidence. Overwhelmed. It was that year that I decided I might want to look at another career option if teaching wasn’t what I was meant to do forever.

Now, three years later I am a librarian. I primarily am working on children’s programs and other daily library tasks. I enjoy children’s books, but not nearly as much as I love reading them to children. I will use this blog to brag on my favorite authors and illustrators and share about some of my own personal favorites in adult books. I love reading Christian fiction and non-fiction and Nicholas Sparks novels. I do plan on branching out and reading from some different genres though. This is all for now.

First Post - Adult Book Club

Greetings All:

This, our very first post, will be in reference to our soon to be starting adult book club. If you noticed, there is some information to the right about the book club. Please take a look.

We will start September 20, 2007 at 6:00 p.m.

As I am a fan of the science fiction/fantasy genre, we will be reading the occasional unicorn and faerie type novel. We will also read other genres and even some non-fiction.

If you have any questions or comments about our book club, please let me know. Our email address is in our profile, or you can comment to any of our postings.
