SLP 2008 Finale Party!

Our Summer Library Program ended today with a huge finale party. We had special storyteller, Brian "Fox" Ellis, wow the kids with stories. We had pizza. We had tons of prizes - including a 100.00 savings bong from The First. We also had the Chick-Fil-A Cow in attendance - the cow helped hand out prizes.

In all, I believe we averaged about 65 children and 35 adults per program, which is pretty good. Until next year...

June Author Visit

I just wanted to let you know that we will be having an author visit our library on Thursday, June 19 from 5 - 7 p.m. The author's name is Tom Swift and he will be promoting his book, Chief Bender's Burden: The Silent Struggle of a Baseball Star. You can learn more about his book by clicking HERE. Mr. Swift's book has been reviewed by several nationally known publications - Booklist, Chicago-Sun Times, and the Washington Post just to name a few.

If you are in the area, if you are a baseball fan, if you are a history fan, or if you just like to read great books, please stop by and talk with the author. He will even have books to sell and autograph.

First 2008 Summer Library Program

Our first Summer Library Program of 2008 was a huge success. In all, we had about 80 kids and 45 adults attend. Aimee Lee and her assistant Mike did a fantastic job of showing the kids various bugs - hissing cockroaches, millipedes, and a tarantula. The program was both fun and educational. We hope that the programs to come are as fun!

Special thanks to Aimee, Mike, and our volunteers for making this program a success!
