New YA & Children's Programmer!

Originally uploaded by OakGroveLibrary

In her own words...

My name is Deborah, and I am the new Children’s and Young Adult programmer at the Oak Grove Library. I am originally from Arkansas, and I moved to Mississippi to attend USM. In 2002, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from USM.

In 2000, I started to work at the Library of Hattiesburg, Petal and Forrest County, and would continue to work there for nine years. During my employment there, I realized I wanted to get my Master’s Degree in Library Science. I loved working at the Hattiesburg Library and received much encouragement from the staff to pursue my degree. I received my MLIS (Master’s of Library and Information Science) in the fall of 2008.

I love to watch movies, read books and listen to music. I love any movies by Tim Burton and most Disney animated films. My favorite television shows are “Madmen” and “Gossip Girl”. When it comes to reading, I enjoy horror and fantasy novels and manga.

I also collect any Alice in Wonderland items I can find, such as variations of the book, dolls, jewelry etc… I am also fascinated with Marie Antoinette, and the time period in which she lived.

At the Oak Grove Library, I do preschool Story Time [and much, much more]. Story Time usually involves several stories that share a theme, with a craft to follow, unless there is a special guest appearance.
